Shirley Kay Wellmaker, 70, of O’Fallon, IL, departed this life on Thursday, October 16, 2008, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 11, 1938 in Lovejoy, IL to the union of William & Elnora, nee Townsend, Lewis. Shirley had been employed as a cook at Our World Day Care Center in O’Fallon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willie J. Wellmaker, 3 brothers; Frank Bill Drain, Eddie Lewis, Sonny Lewis and 2 sisters; Ophelia Hall and Sarah Winchester. She is survived by 7 children; Bobbie Oakley of O’Fallon, IL, Sandra Henderson of Edwardsville, IL, Johnny (Felicia) Oakley Jr. of Swansea, IL, Sakina (Clarence) Robinson of Aurora, CO, Donnell (Cassandra) Oakley Sr. of Waddell, Ariz, Paula Oakley of Collinsville, IL, Courtney (Fonda) Oakley Sr. of O’Fallon, IL, 21 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 4 sisters; Ora Lee Rivers of O’Fallon, IL, Georgella Combs of Lebanon, IL, Early Mae Lewis of Omaha, NE, Frenchie Lewis of Compton, CA and a host of nieces and nephews.
