Shirley Marie Smith, 71, of Columbia, Maryland passed away on New Years Day, Friday, January 1, 2016. Born January 11, 1944 in Baltimore, she is the beloved daughter of Lavinia and the late John Smith. A devoted mother, she is survived by her five children Kimberlee Turner (Frank), Shelley Johnson (Justin), Tracey Goldstein (Greg), Mark Carter, and Cheri “Nicki” Carter. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren (Tommy, Ashley, Brandon, Travis, Kylie, Sydney, Isabelle, Kyra, Samantha, and Nathan), her long time sweetheart Sushil Kumar, and four sisters. Shirley was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
Shirley loved to travel, spend time with family and friends, cook, sing with grandkids, and tell funny stories. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, warm generosity, her love for family, and zest for life.
