Shirley Mae Worden
Shirley Mae Eubanks Worden, 88, of Gooding, Idaho passed away peacefully Thursday January 27, 2011 at North Canyon Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born October 30, 1922 to George and Lyda Eubanks in Gooding, Idaho. She was reared and attended school in Gooding graduating from Gooding High School in 1941. She played softball in High School and became an avid sports fan for the remainder of her life following the Boise State Broncos and the Utah Jazz. She could tell you who all the players were and their stats. After graduating from High School Shirley attended and graduated from the Gooding Business School.
On November 28, 1942 Shirley married Martye B Worden in Gooding, Idaho. After the war they moved to the Gas Hills of Wyoming for a few years where Martye was employed as a heavy equipment operator and Shirley was a home maker raising their two children Richard and Kay. They missed Idaho and their families so they moved home in 1962 settling in the Wood River Valley. Shirley worked for the Sun Valley Company for 24 years where she was the Head Housekeeper of the Sun Valley Lodge and the Challenger Inn retiring in 1986. After they both retired the couple moved home to Gooding settling where it all started on the family property.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her children, their spouses and her grand daughter. Son Richard (Patti) Worden of Gooding daughter Kay (Ernie) Bengoechea of Eden and granddaughter Ashley (Casey) Hiatt of Boise.
