Shirley Madiline Fanto Hoffman, Our beloved Shirley departed this life on December 10, 2015. She was born in Cumberland, MD to James and Aira Lona Fanto. After her parent’s deaths at an early age, she was raised by her sister Minnie Morgan Smith in Borgman along with her niece Pansy, until she married Harry “Pete” Hoffman on December 17, 1971. She attended the Borgman School and then worked at Kinney Shoe Corporation in Kingwood, WV. She later worked as a Medication Aide/Caregiver in Ballinger, Texas, at Hopemont Hospital in Terra Alta, WV, and then at Perry Elder Care in South Carolina, where she retired. She was a helper at heart, in her career and in life in general. Shirley and Pete traveled the country extensively making their homes in California, Texas, West Virginia, and South Carolina where she lived until her death. Shirley loved her family first and foremost, always putting others before herself. She was an important focal point of our family for years, always in the know about everyone’s struggles and triumphs, and always there to offer wisdom and comfort during hard times. She was a lover of Classical music, National Public Radio, gardening, and traveling across the country. She is survived by her four step-children, Cindy Collins and husband Scott of Rowlesburg, WV, Cleve Hoffman and wife Tina of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Connie Craycraft of Mount Orab, Ohio, and Chris Hoffman of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is survived by five grandchildren, Lisa Hinzman and husband Mike of Mount Clare, WV, Erin Duff and husband Craig of Kenna, WV, Sarah Craycraft of Columbus, Ohio, Annie Craycraft of Columbus, Ohio, Brookelyn Duncan of Mount Orab, Ohio, and Duncan Hoffman of Cincinnati, Ohio, two great-grandsons, Dylan Chance Hinzman of Mount Clare, WV, and Lucas Cash Duff of Kenna, WV. She also leaves behind numerous beloved sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Aira Lona Fanto, her sister Minnie Smith, her niece Pansy Morgan, and her beloved husband Harry “Pete” Hoffman.
