Obituary of Shirley M. Kolch

KOLCH, Shirley Maxine (Loibl), of Saginaw, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence with her family by her side. She was 94 years old. Shirley M. Loibl was born October 22, 1918 in Saginaw to the late Leo G. and Anna E. (Breuer) Loibl. She married Marvin E. Kolch on May 28, 1938; he preceded her in death in December of 1986. Shirley graduated from Saginaw High School, Class of 1936. She worked as an Office Manager for orthodontists: Dr. Oglestone, Dr. Gilmore, Dr. Leddy and Dr. Carey. Shirley volunteered for over 18 years at Covenant Cooper. She was a Charter Member of Faith Lutheran Church and worked on the Altar Guild. Shirley did all the decorating for over 23 years at the church. She loved to travel, tend to her garden and knit. Above all, Shirley loved her family.

Surviving are her beloved son, LTC (Ret) M. James (Barbara I.) Kolch of Abingdon, MD; daughter-in-law, Barbara J. Kolch of The Villages, FL, one granddaughter, Connie K. (Michael) Crossland of Aventura, FL; a grandson, LTC Kurt (Sharon) Kolch of Portland, OR, two great granddaughters: Erin (Robert) Shadbolt of Ogden, UT and Kirsten A. Kolch of Portland, OR; two nephews: Robert (JoAnne) Kolch and Denis Kolch. Also surviving is her dear friends, Mary A. Ardern, Bill and Karen Wuerfel and Beverly Sulfridge.

She was preceded in death by a dear gentleman friend, Willis Briggs.
