Shirley Louise Kearney, of Quaker Hill, passed away on Friday Morning June 19, 2015, at Greentree Manor in Waterford visited and comforted by her family. Shirley was 82 years old. Shirley was born in Westerly R.I. on January 24, 1933, daughter of the late Julia (Frey) Whiting and Harold Whiting. Shirley resided most of her life in Norwich and Waterford,Ct.
Shirley was a very hard working employee of Backus Hospital for many years and also at the Montville Health Center. She enjoyed her work and loved the people she worked with and served. Shirley was an excellent cake decorator and at one time sold beautiful cakes from weddings to birthdays cakes. Shirley also enjoyed going to yard sales and finding a good bargain. Shirley mostly loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Kathleen ( Kearney ) Worthington and her husband Andrew and granddaughters Kearney and Mason Worthington of Manchester, Ct. Daughter Maureen ( Kearney ) LaFlamme and husband Pete LaFlamme of Norwich, Ct. Son William Kearney and wife Sylvie ( Michaud) Kearney of Quaker Hill, Ct. Son Daniel Kearney and his wife Lori ( Sadoski ) Kearney and granddaughters Allison and Samantha Kearney of East Hampton,Ct. Also Shirley’s ex-husband William Kearney of Norwich, Ct. Shirley was pre-deceased by grandson Peter William LaFlamme, a sister Barbara Gribbin and a brother Donald Whiting.
