Shirley Lee (Walker) Lunt crossed over in BoiseID, on December 29, 2008, at 8:10 p.m. at St. Alphonsus RMC.

Shirley was born in Okarche, OK, on August 26, 1936.  While she was an infant the family moved to Orange, CA and then to El Centro, CA at about age five (5).

In 1957 she met her husband while he was stationed at Naval Air Station El Centro.  Shirley completed Kelsey Jenny Business School in San Diego.  On March 15, 1958 they went to Las Vegas and got married in Henderson, NV.  In March 1959, Shirley and Martin were sealed in the LDS Temple in Mesa, AZ.  Their first child (Crystal Ann) was born May 14, 1959 in El CentroCA.  Their second, Aaron Martin, was born August 18, 1967, in Downey, CA.

In 1964 Shirley’s family moved to Newport, RI where Martin attended NavyOfficerCandidateSchool.  In 1964, after OCS, their naval stations included Albuquerque, Long Beach, Pueblo, San Diego, and Boise. They retired from the Navy in August, 1980, and have been in Boise ever since.

Shirley enjoyed painting with oils, acrylics, and tole paintings.  She left some great art work for family to enjoy.  Her year-and-a-half old granddaughter especially enjoys the apple tole painting.

Shirley enjoyed reading, especially mystery stories involving cats.  Her favorite authors were Rita Mae Brown, Shirley Russo Murphy, and Lillian Jackson Braun.

Shirley was a kidney dialysis patient for just over 26 years, thanks to the wonderful care given by many good and caring nephrologists, nurses, and technicians at St. Alphonsus and DaVita dialysis unites.  She was not a quitter, she never gave up.

Shirley’s parents Albert H. O. Walker and Kate Ellen (Rollins) Walker, and her siblings Estelle, Helen, Edna, and Earl all preceded her.  Shirley is survived by her sister Bonnie, husband Martin, daughter Crystal, and son Aaron (his wife Carol and granddaughter Rachel).

Shirley will be missed.
