Shirley L. Sousley, 89, of Goshen, formerly of Elkhart, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Friday, Dec. 9.
Dearly loved by her family, she ended her earthly pilgrimage at Elkhart Hospice House.
Shirley was born May 4, 1927, in Detroit, where she spent her childhood at the Salvation Army Children’s Home.
After high school graduation she attended Fort Wayne Bible College.
Much of her life she lived in Elkhart, working for 13 years at General Telephone Co. and for seven years at Crown International.
She continued to work until retiring from Council on Aging at age 78.
Baking delicious cookies to give away was her delight.
Last November, Shirley moved to Greencroft, Goshen, and continued to make treats for her neighbors.
Because she trusted Jesus as her Savior, Shirley shared her faith and for 25 years taught Sunday school.
She fellowshipped at Grace Brethren Church, Elkhart, in recent years.
