NORTH ANDOVER – Shirley Johnson Greenwald, most recently of North Andover, MA and Wolfeboro, NH, died peacefully on March 14, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by four children, Cynthia Albert Link, Willard F. Greenwald, III, Mary Greenwald, and Vicky Stigum, their spouses, seven grandchildren and two brothers, Laurence and Edward Johnson. Her husband of 42 years, Dr. Willard F. Greenwald, Jr., predeceased her in 1995.
Born in Boston in 1929, Shirley moved to Maine as a child, where she became an accomplished equestrian and a Junior Maine Guide. She spent summers teaching riding at overnight camps on Lake Sebago. It warmed her heart to see many of her children and grandchildren develop the same passion for traditional lakeside summer camp and return year after year as campers and counselors.
