Muncie – Shirley J. Shaner, 71, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, at her residence following a valiant battle with cancer.
Shirley was born in Dunkirk on March 3, 1943, the daughter of Glenn and Mary (Starr) Wise, and attended Albany Schools.
Mrs. Shaner enjoyed dancing, bingo, and crafts.
Survivors include her daughter, Amanda Phillips, Muncie; two sons, Glen Shaner Jr., and Gerald Shaner, (wife-Megan), both of Muncie; three sisters, her twin sister, Sharon Wilson, Albany, Glenda Frye, (husband-Ronnie), Tampa, Florida, and Penny Edds, Mississippi; two brothers, Richard Starr, (wife-Wilma), Dunkirk, and Bruce Starr, Albany; nine grandchildren, Maryellen, Cathy, Miranda (Jeremy), Shaena (Rob), Patricia, Larry, Diana, Jeanne, and Heather; six great grandchildren, her little man Ayden, her sweet potato Aubree, Heaven, Angel, Robert, and Cameron; her best friend of over 55 years, Jeanne Brown; a special friend Alvin Bell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years, Glen Shaner Sr., a daughter, Diana Sargent, and a brother-in-law, James Wilson.
