Shirley J Kern, 70, a long time resident of Alamogordo, NM entered into the arms of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on July 6, 2007. Shirley was born in Lake Mills, Iowa on July 20, 1936, to Peter J & Maxine Scott Hegel. She graduated from Roswell High School in 1954. She married her soul-mate Charles Kern on December 6th 1957. They have 4 children: Charles Jr, Kathryn, Jeffrey & Denise. She graduated from NMSU in 1981 as a Crimson Scholar with degrees in Accounting & Business Systems Analysis. Shirley was a member of Eastern Star, Mother Adviser for Rainbow Assembly 44 & Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority during college. She was preceded in death by her father & grandparents.
Shirley is survived by her mother Maxine, her husband Charles who both reside in Alamogordo; her brother Scott Hegel & wife Sherrie of Austin, TX; her son Charles Kern Jr & wife Ann of San Diego, daughter Kathryn J Lister of Albuquerque, son Jeffrey S Kern of Alamogordo and daughter Denise K Fischer & husband Michael of Denver. She is survived by 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild: John Lister of Albuquerque, NM, Meagan & Joseph Fischer of Denver, CO, Cecilio Ledezma and Sierra Lister.
