NEW HARTFORD – Shirley H. Spencer, 101, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Millard Arthur Spencer for over 50 years. Born August 14, 1920 in Great Barrington, MA; the daughter of the late Frank Winfield Healy and Bertha (Woodford) Healy.Shirley married her husband on May 4, 1940 at the age of twenty and went to work on their dairy farm on South Road. She was independent minded and hard working with a very strong work ethic she taught her family. She and her husband were very involved in the community. She was a member of the Eureka Grange in New Hartford for over 70 years. Shirley also had a witty sense of humor often times saying one liners and was an avid reader and loved coloring by numbers. She also loved spending time with her family. The family would like to thank Charter Oak Homecare especially Alicia for their support and kindness throughout the is survived by her children, Doug Spencer and wife Marsha of New Hartford and Lorraine Pepper and husband Robert of New Hartford; 10 grandchildren and their spouses; 21 great grandchildren and their spouses and 2 great great grandchildren. She also leaves her special companion and cat, addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Dennison Healy.
