Shirley E. Kalin

Shirley passed away peacefully at home on August 11th at the age of 96. Shirley was born on September 12, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Carl and Julia Kaltenborn (Wallenborn). She was married to Frank Kalin for 56 years. During their marriage, Frank’s job with General Motors took them throughout the United States finally landing them in Scottsdale, Arizona. Shirley held various administrative jobs during her career, the last with the Scottsdale Girls Club. She was an active member of the Scottsdale Women’s Club (SWC) part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. She was very interested in craft projects and the philanthropic activities with SWC. Frank’s second career in the travel industry allowed them to travel extensively in their retirement.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Frank, son Craig Michael and brother Carl. She is survived by her daughter Heather of Scottsdale, AZ.
Shirley was a generous, loving soul with a positive attitude. She became everyone’s “other Mom”.
She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her whether related or not, friends or family, old or new.
