Shirley Zakovics Taylor (née Vincen) passed away peacefully on April 1st, 2016. Shirley is survived by her husband, James E. Taylor; sons, Ryan and Michael Zakovics of Portland; grandchildren Natalya Atkins and Kelsey Hagerman; siblings Rusty Talbot, Pat Brush, Polly LaMott, Charles Vincen, Bernice Vincen, Fred Vincen, David Vincen, and Jackie Dahms; and ex-husbands Zig Zakovics and Mike Atkins. She was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Carey Atkins, and her parents Charles and Francis Vincen.
Shirley was down to earth, deeply generous, and always up for a spontaneous adventure.
Despite her diagnosis of interstitial lung disease, which typically carries a 2-6 year life expectancy, Shirley enjoyed another 16 years of fun and adventure with her loving husband, Jimmy. The family thanks the nurses and physicians at St. Luke’s for their care and attention during Shirley’s recent stay.
