Shirley B. IlerBay City, MichiganOur beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 90 years. The daughter of the late Earl F. and Rita M. (Atkinson) Gordon was born April 30, 1926 in Midland Ontario, Canada and had resided in Bay City most of her life. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1944 and was formerly employed at Consumers Power Company, Wiechman’s, Federal Dept. Store and retired from Anderson Radio. She taught art classes for many years, enjoyed traveling to Europe and Canada, cooking and baking for her family, camping and most of all she enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren.Left to cherish her memories are four children; Kipp Iler of Bay City, Kris Iler of Bay City and his close friend; Ken Idzior, Kim Iler of Bay City and Kerry Iler of Pinconning, two wonderful grandchildren that she couldn’t have made it without; Lindsay (David Arndt) Iler and Dane Iler, one great granddaughter; Harper Sophia, one brother; Kenneth (Maurita) Gordon of Fredericksburg, VA, special sister-in-law; Millie Gordon of Essexville, sister-in-law; Paulette Gordon of Spring Branch, TX, special niece; Terry Lynn Gordon of Essexville, many other dear nieces and nephews and her dear friend; Becky Reed . On May 3, 1947 she married Robert Charles Iler and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2012. She was also preceded in death by two brothers; Allen Gordon and Lawrence “Buck” Gordon, two brothers-in-law; Henry and Edward Iler, one nephew Craig Gordon and her dear friends; Betty Skibin and Jessie Watkins.
