On July 10, 1941 in the small town of Poolesville, MD God blessed Shirley Ann to Charles Thomas and Lillie Mae Jackson. She was the youngest girl of 12 siblings, all of whom have preceded her in death as well as her children Phillip, Martin and Timothy Garey.
She was a county girl, raised on farms in Martinsburg, Rockville and Wheaton, MD. She received her formal education at Sandy Spring Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High and George Washington Carver High School Until the 10th grade, but later went on to complete high school after the birth of her children by James Foreman and Richard Garey whom she later divorced and married Bobby Phillips whom she also divorced. She was a hard worker and worked at many positions to care for her children whom she dearly loved.
Her walk with God began in 1971 and she was baptized in 1972 at the church now known as Union Wesley AME Zion Church. She laid the foundation for her children by Introducing them to the Lord at that time.
She is survived by son, Robert E. Jackson, Ret. Marine Corp.; twins Richard Jackson and Rita Jackson Simms; son Steven Garey; daughters Helena Garey and Justina Henry; grandchildren, Kevin, Sabrina, Jordan, Rita, Hannah, Jade, Stephanie, Erica, Craig Jr., Heather, Zakar (Jumie), Chale, Nile, Stevani, Steve Jr., Dove, Hajuar, Jessica and Jante; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family members and her special friend Everett.
