On Tuesday, April 20, 2021, Shirley Carter, loving mother of four children, passed away at the age of 74.
Shirley was born September 29, 1946, in Wauchula, Florida to Marvin and Emma Jane Boney. She furthered her education later in life to earn a degree as a home healthcare nurse. She married Joel Ray Carter at the age of 16. They raised one son, Danny Ray Carter, and three daughters, Bonnie, Missy, and Betty Jo.
To know Shirley was to know her caring nature and the boundless love she had for her family. The light of her life was seeing her grandchildren and being surrounded by the smiles and laughter of her family. Shirley enjoyed tending to her numerous plants (her thumbs were practically green) and cooking for anyone in need of a good meal. Shirley was a woman that would do anything anyone asked of her and her selflessness is something rare in this world and will be dearly missed.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Marvin; mother, Emma Jane; husband, Joel Ray; son, Danny Ray; and sister, Betty Lou.
She is survived by her three daughters, Bonny, Missy Kline (Robert), and Betty Jo Faircloth (Joe); ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Bobby Boney (Nancy), Peggy Rogerson (Steve), Marlene McClelland (Donald) and Freddy Boney.
