Shirley was born January 14, 1935 in Wisconsin Rapids to Harry and Ann (Wendland) Deyo.  She graduated from John Edwards High School in Port Edwards.  She married her high school sweetheart, W. Dan “Dutch” Karberg on April 16, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards.

Shirley worked in the Port Edwards Paper Mill for a brief time before her marriage.  She later worked as a store manager for Debbie’s Den gift shop in Wisconsin Rapids.

Shirley was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards where she served as an organist, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and was active in Ladies Aid.  She loved playing Bridge and was a member of several area Bridge clubs.  She was also an avid bowler, participating in several area leagues.  She enjoyed knitting while watching TV and was an avid reader.  She loved Shirley Temple (her namesake) and had an extensive collection of Shirley Temple memorabilia.  She was an active member of the Port Edwards Lioness for many years, serving in whatever capacity was needed.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Dutch; daughter, Dawn (Mike) Fry; daughter-in-law, Janet Karberg; and grandchildren: Corey (Nikki) Karberg and their children Mason, Miles, Cohen, Asher and Jaxtyn and Kelly (Matt) Cournoyer and their children Hoyt, Journee, and Trinity.  She is preceded in death by her parents; son Randy; and infant daughter Kathy.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Arborview Court and Moments Hospice for the exceptional care Shirley received.
