Shirley A. (Fuschetti) Birofka, 85 of Seaside Park, NJ passed away at home on Saturday April 6, 2013. Born in Summit, NJ she lived in Chatham, NJ before moving to Seaside Park, NJ 20 years ago. She worked as a medical secretary for Morristown Memorial Hospital, Center for Evaluation & Counseling from 1977 until her retirement in 1993. Mrs. Birofka was a faithful member at St. Patrick’s RC Church in Chatham, NJ where she was a member of the Mother’s Guild and the Rosary Society.
She was also a member at St. Catharine of Siena RC Church in Seaside Park, NJ and she served on the rosary society. Mrs. Birofka was a member of the Democratic Club in Seaside Park. Her hobbies included bowling, bike riding and aerobics. She is predeceased by her parents Antonio Fuschetti and Teresa (Burkali) Fuschetti, her brother Joseph Fuschetti, and her sister Rosemary Sillitoe. Surviving are her beloved husband of 61 years John J. Birofka with whom she raised 3 children.
Mrs. Birofka was the mother of Judy and her husband Peter Brown of Dyersburg, TN, John Birofka and his wife Genevieve of Madison, NJ and Jim Birofka and his wife Peggy of Merrick Long Island, NY. In addition to her husband and children, Mrs. Birofka is survived by her grandchildren Matt and his wife Nikki, Caroline, Jack and Anne Elyse, and by her great grandson Lane. She is also survived by her sister Leah Cattano of New Providence, NJ,and her sister in-law Anne Fuschetti of Madison, NJ, Mae Jane of Seaside Park, NJ and Caroline Ryan of Arizona, as well as many devoted nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
