Shirie RaVae Howard Findlay, age 77, passed away in her daughter Shelly’s home in Mesa Arizona, on May 26, 2019.
She was born July 10, 1941 in Ogden Utah, a daughter of Jessie Eli Howard and Emma Dean Allred.
On April 13, 1959 she married Gordon Blair Findlay in Ogden Utah. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Shirie was raised and educated in Ogden, graduating from Ben Lomond High School. Her family lived in Harrisville before buying a home in Layton. In 1966 the family was transferred by the Boeing Company to Seattle Washington.
The family bought a home in Federal Way Washington where they raised their four children and were active members of the Federal Way 1st ward for 25 years. Shirie used her data entry skills to work for several companies in the Seattle area. She also became a very successful event meeting planner.
A few years before retirement, Shirie and Gordon moved from Federal Way to Belfair and Allyn Washington where they resided for another 25 years. Active members of the Belfair Ward, Shirie held many callings and also served a full time Welfare Service Mission as co-managers of the Bishops Storehouse and Cannery with her husband in Bremerton Washington. She also was the Relief Society President in a State Woman Prison with Gordon, who was the Branch President for over four years.
Shirie began to have health issues so she sold her home in Allyn Washington and relocated to Meza Arizona to reside in her daughter and son-in-law’s home.
Shirie is survived by her devoted husband Gordon; four children, Shelly (Alan) Beckstead, Mesa Arizona, Tracy (Debbie) Enumclaw Washington, Corey (Kristin) Allyn Washington, and Ricky (Toni) San Tan Valley Arizona; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
