Sheryl Ann (Fineday) Hill, age 54, “Anung Ikwe” which means “Star Woman”, of Cass Lake, Minnesota and the Makwa and Migizi Clans began her journey to the spirit world from her home on Sunday, May 31st, 2020.
Sheryl was born in Cass Lake, MN on January 7, 1966, the daughter of Barbara Fineday and John Wind, Sr. She grew up in the Pennington and Mission Area, attending the Blackduck Elementary School and graduated from the Bug-O-Nay-Geshig High School. Sheryl pursued a Secretarial Certificate at Staples AVTI before attended Bemidji Tech for Business. She worked for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe for many years as the Program Assistant for the Sports and Recreation Office. In 2002, Sheryl married the love of her life Merrel Hill until he journeyed on in 2007. She enjoyed reading, watching TV, and visiting with her friends. Sheryl loved her children very much and was passionate about her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is welcomed to the spirit world by her husband, Merrel Hill; parents, Barbara Fineday and John Wind, Sr.; nephew, Bruce Armstrong, Jr. and many aunties and uncles.
Family that she leaves behind are her sons, Kenneth (Jenn) Staples, Jr. of Cass Lake and Alfred Desjarlait II of Bemidji; daughter, Jaymz-Dawn Desjarlait of Bemidji; brothers, John Wind, Jr., Charles Wind, Ivan (Vickie) Wind, Fabian Wind, Reginald Wind, Gordon Fineday and Robert Fineday; sisters, Ruth Wind, Marilyn Wind, Diane Fineday and Dawn Fineday; grandchildren, Antonio, Aaliyah, Ken III, Adrick, Arayah, Ariana, Jaxon, Alfred III, Ezra and Arleighauna; children that she raised, Donavin, Natasha, Aleigha, Dominick and Cordell, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
