Mr. Sherwood “Woody” Skillman, 93, a residence of Brookdale Memory Care, Burlington, died at the Hospice Home on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 1:25 p.m.
A native of Somerville, NJ, he was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” Skillman, who survives and the son of Craig Skillman and Sarah Sherwood Skillman, both deceased. Mr. Skillman was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during World War II. He retired from RCA Research Lab in Princeton, NJ and was a volunteer with the Alamance County Meals on Wheels and Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington, the Alamance Seniors’ Golf Group and the Quarry Hills Golf Club and a long time member of the Burlington Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Diane Skillman Johnson and husband Allan of Liberty; two sons, Robert Skillman and wife Pamela of Concord and Dennis Rex Skillman and wife Karen of Oldwick, NJ; four grandchildren, Christopher Skillman, Shawn Skillman, Crystal Brauer and Cory Skillman; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Pidcock.
