Sherry Ann “Tater” Peak, 73, of Vandalia, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 in Heartland Health Care Center, Three Rivers, after an illness. She was born September 21, 1937 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Charles and Nora (Andrews) Harman.
They preceded her in death along with her only son, Robert Peak; a grandson, Daren Peak; one sister, Evelyn Kirkwood; and two brothers, Joseph and Charles Hartman.Sherry lived most of her life in Mishawaka working as a waitress. In her youth she enjoyed playing the accordion and roller skating at Bock Roller Rink. She enjoyed spending time with many nieces and nephews over the years, who all affectionately called her “Aunt Tater”.
She was a wonderful cook, and will always be remembered for her homemade noodles and famous peanut brittle.Retirement took Sherry and Tom to Vandalia where they enjoyed living life on a small, quiet fishing lake surrounded by many wonderful neighbors and friends.
She is survived by her loving companion, Tom Knox of Vandalia; one brother, Jerry Hartman of Pompano Beach, Florida; four sisters, Peggie Bice of Mishawaka, Indiana, Barbara McGuiness of Ocala, Florida, Sylvia Jones of Mishawaka, Indiana and Judy Finn of Elkhart, Indiana; one granddaughter, Kim Humphrey; two great grandchildren, Karyna and Austin of Arkansas; and daughter-in-law, Joan Peak of Arkansas.
