BILLY SINGLETON “SHERIFF” LONG age 79, of 14 Montague Avenue, Roxboro, NC died Sunday morning, March 19, 2023 at AuthoraCare Collective in Burlington, NC.
Mr. Long was born March 20, 1943 in Person County, NC, son of the late John Allen & Mary Cornelius Warren Long and was husband of 57 years to Linda Neathery Long who survives. He was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. after many years of service, was of the Baptist faith, and was a veteran of the US Army where he served during the Vietnam War.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Melinda Gail Long (Jay Morris), James Douglas Long & wife, Cathy, two grandchildren, Jeremy Blake Long, Kaye Michelle Daye & husband, Rico, brother, Tinnie Lee Long & wife, Polly, two sisters, Nannie Bet Hatcher, and Sterling Harris.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Long is preceded in death by an infant son, Bradley Duane Long, brothers, Jack Long, Calvin Long, grandson, Dwayne Hayes, and great grandson, DeMari Leo Daye.
