Shelly Elwood Farnsworth was born at Wilden Hospital in Des Moines IA to Pamela and Jerry Elwood Sr on February 21,1965. Shelly died Wednesday September 29, 2021 in Methodist ICU at 3:47 PM

Shelly had many jobs throughout the years caretaker, waitress, school teacher associate, and school lunch lady. But her biggest accomplishment was was being the mother of her two boys. Shelly loved her role as a stay at home mom and homemaker. She loved her boys and was a great mother to them.

Shelly was always down for a good time. Her and the two boys would often go on adventures, field trips, they made so many memories together. She loved roller coasters, and you could find her at home on football Sunday cheering on the Green Bay Packers. If you knew Shelly, you knew she loved her Packers. Shelly also loved Pepsi, her morning coffee and a perfectly cooked Ribeye from Chicago Speakeasy in Des Moines.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Justin (MacKenzie) Farnsworth of Des Moines; her Dad, Jerry Elwood Sr of Mitchellville; Mother, Pamela Elwood of Pleasant Hill; brother, Jerry (Shawna) Elwood Jr of Ankeny; and Nephews, Zack and Skyler of Altoona.

Shelly was preceded in death by her eldest son, Jacob Lee Farnsworth; her Grandmother, Betty June Mayse; and her K9 companion, Chewy.

Shelly will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Shelly was a sweet lady; she would give her last dollar or the shirt off her back to those in need. She loved to help anyone she could. The family would like to extend thanks to all the nurses and staff at John Stoddard and Methodist that helped to care for Shelly over the years but especially the team that took care of her the last week of her life. We can all rest easy knowing Shelly isn’t in pain anymore.
