Sheldon Moore Newsom, 76, of Portland, passed away on June 30, 2007 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Beloved husband for 42 years to Emilie Keithan Newsom, he leaves behind 8 children: son, James and wife Barbara Newsom of Portland, CT; daughter, Shelley Newsom and Gyula of New York; son, K. Robert (Bob) and wife Paula Newsom of Glastonbury; daughter, Carrie and husband David Christie of Cromwell; step-daughter, Kathleen and husband Thomas Kavanaugh of Portland; step-son, Leonard and wife Corey Schultz of Cromwell; step-son, Keithan and wife Amy Schultz of Florida; and step-son, Jeffrey and wife Jody of Higganum. He also leaves his one brother, Peter and wife Jean Newsom of Portland, as well as 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Karl and Adaline (Sears) Newsom.
