She was a graduate of Eastern Guilford High School and Rutledge College. Shelby dedicated a part of her life from 1978 to 1999 in the United States Army where she served and received an honorable discharge. Professionally she worked at Lincoln Financial in Greensboro, NC from 1995 to 2015 when her health would no longer allow her too. Shelby was a faithful and dedicated member of Elon First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Rev. James Wilkes. She enjoyed peaceful walks, traveling, studying the Bible, loving her family and her dog “Bigs”. Shelby was a woman of her word and will be truly missed by all that knew her.
Her life and legacy will be forever cherished by her god-daughter, Jailyn Brooks, her eight siblings, Sylvia Murrell of Burlington, William Murrell of Maryland, Michael Murrell Fields of Virginia, Frances Davis, Kelly Murrell and Kathy Ibrahim all of Gibsonville, Ron (Joy) Brooks and Sharon (Rick) James with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends and let us not forget “Bigs”.
She has now joined her parents, Mr. Edward G. Murrell and Mrs. Dorothy Mae Fields Murrell on the other side.
