Sheila Lynette Jacoby, age 66, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on April 9, 2022 with family by her side. She was born on April 27, 1955 in Torrington, Wyoming to Donald and Caroline (Huckfeldt) Basinger.
Sheila is preceded in death by her husband Ted Jacoby, parents, brother Dick Basinger, and sister-in-law Margaret Louise Jacoby. She is survived by her daughter Kristen Jacoby (Aspen), son Brian Jacoby (Caroline Carlisle), grandchildren Steele, Stone, and Edith; sister Shirley McCandlish, sister-in-law Joyce Jacoby, and beloved family and friends.
Sheila and Ted met while they attended the University of Northern Colorado and were married in April of 1978. After his death, her commitment to her two children grew even stronger. Her unwavering love and devotion kept the family close and strong.
Sheila spent the majority of her career working as a Medical Technologist in the laboratory at Kaiser Permanente in Wheat Ridge, where she retired in 2016. She had quite the green thumb and was always “playing in the dirt” or trying to grow an avocado tree from a pit on her kitchen counter. She loved baseball and was a Rockies fan, but always preferred watching her kids’ softball and baseball little league teams. Sheila’s sense of humor and sarcasm were matched only by her loving generosity… and possibly by her sweet tooth. Her grandkids were the light of her life and knew her as “Netty.”
Sheila’s table was always open to new friends and family to feel at home on holidays, celebrations, or barbeques. Her home was a warm and welcoming place to be yourself and be loved.
