Mrs. John (Sheila Ann) Thomas, 46, of Grand Ridge, died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at her home. Sheila was born December 18, 1964 in Ottawa, to Jack and Sue (Bivens) Carr. She was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School and Illinois Valley Community College. She married John Thomas on October 15, 1983. She was employed by the U. of Illinois Extension as a 4-H Coordinator. She was a Master Gardener, Master Food Specialist and a Master Naturalist at the University of Illinois Extension, and was a past Homemaker of the Year. She was a member of St. Marys Church in Naplate, Handy Homemakers, Illinois Agriwomen, H.O.G. and the Women of the Moose. Sheila was also a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader and a 4-H leader. She is survived by her husband, John, her father, Jack Carr, one son, Rob (Jessica) Thomas, of Ottawa, one daughter, Jennifer (Kyle), of Grand Ridge, one granddaughter, Ashton Thomas, one brother, Jack (Beth) Carr, of Ottawa and one sister, Kathy (Pete) Berry, of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sue Carr. Pallbearers will be: Nina Faletti, Julie Bowers, Julie Pike, Mary Winter, Gus Rinker, and Randy Rutledge.
