Shawn Eugene Riley – May 23, 1969 – Dec 26, 2010.
Shawn went to be with our Lord on Dec 26th, 2010, doing one of the things that he loved most – hunting with his buddy Brad. Shawn was an amazing force in the small community of Parma. He worked hard and always wanted to learn more. Every day was a life’s lesson for him.
Shawn was born in Caldwell, ID on May 23, 1969 to Donnie and Jeanie Riley. He grew up in Parma with his three siblings, Jolene, Billy and Ronnie.
Shawn was a family man first and foremost, he loved nothing more than his beautiful family. He married the love of his life Alicia, March 14, 1990 they had four beautiful children Kieran, Randy, Kaylee and Scott. Alicia’s constant smile and tender heart is what kept Shawn grounded.
Shawn began coaching his kids in wrestling in 1993 and never quit. He learned everything he knew about wrestling from his Coach and Mentor Jess Eddy. Coach Eddy was the biggest influence in Shawn’s life. Jess, Jean, Randy and Greg were Shawn’s second family and he truly loved them.
Shawn graduated from Parma High School in 1988. Shawn started working right out of high school and worked for Riverside Inc for 16 years. Shawn was getting his Teaching Degree from the University of Phoenix and would have been done next year. His many accomplishments included: In-School Suspension Instructor for Parma Middle School. Special Ed Teacher in Notus and Parma. Middle School Wrestling Coach, MatRats Free Style wrestling coach, Parma High Head Wrestling Coach and was on the High School Football Coaching staff. Shawn received the 2A State Wrestling Coach of the Year in 2009
Shawn is survived by his beautiful wife, Alicia. Children Kieran, 19. Randy, 17, Kaylee, 16 and Scott, 15. His mother Jeanie Blake and stepfather Darrel Blake. He bothers and wives, Billy and Tami Riley and Ronnie and Tamera Riley. His 13 nieces and nephews that are very special to him. His Uncle’s Mike and Gene “Bimbo” and Aunt’s Judy, Jeanette, Annette, Linda, Susan and Stephanie. He is also survived many cousins, coaches, football players and wrestlers.
He is proceeded in death by his father Donnie Riley , his sister Jolene Riley, his grandmother Emogene Pratt and grandfather Wendy Martin.
To All of Shawn’s “Kids”: Life is short. Live honestly and work hard. Remember you get what you work for. He loves each and everyone one of you and each of you have a special place in his heart. Take what he taught you and make your life great.
