Sharon Joyce Riker “Mimi” took her last breath on Sunday Sept 12. She was 84 years old.
Sharon is survived by her two son’s Chris and Greg, brother David, daughter-in-law’s Elgin and Tonya, grandchildren Sarah, Kort, Noyan, Alyeska, Tanner, Leah and Pace: as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
Sharon was predeceased by her husband Ed, son Phil, brother Mike, father Cleveland and mother Leona.
Sharon was a lifelong caregiver and always put her family first. While reflecting on her life, it’s hard to remember a time when that was not the case.
Immortality is a matter of the mind not of the body – you are alive as long as people can remember you by your actions and want to emulate those actions. This can be clearly witnessed by the loving care provided to her during her final years.
Sharon battled late in her life with major back surgery, hip surgery, cancer, loss of her son, loss of her husband, and ultimately pneumonia.
She spent her final months moving from her house to rehab to an assisted living facility. The one constant was the TV turned on to a cooking channel. We imagine her last thought was an episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives’.
We will be scheduling a get-together to honor and remember her life in the near future.
