Sharon graduated from duPont Manual High School Class of 1958 in Louisville, Kentucky. She continued her education at Western Kentucky University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and was a member of Beta Omega Chi sorority. As a military wife, she was fortunate to live in many cities here and abroad and eventually settled in Burke, Virginia. During the time she spent as a military wife, she was very active in the Officers Wives Club. Often in leadership positions, Sharon enjoyed serving the military community where ever they were stationed. For over 20 years she taught preschool at St. Steven’s United Methodist Church. She touched many children’s lives along with their families in her years dedicated to early childhood education. Above all, her greatest love was the time spent with her girls. She was a dedicated team mom, color guard mom, chaperone and ‘Number 1 Fan’ in all the activities her daughters participated in. It was the time spent with her children and then her grandchildren that brought her the most joy. Sharon was extremely talented and loved to sing, dance, knit and craft. She was passionate about designing and creating her floral wreaths and table decor. As a loyal Washington Redskins fan, she never missed a game. She treasured her retirement years with family and close friends.
