Sharon Kay Dobson, 79, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at her home.

She was born Jan. 23, 1939, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Allan P. and Genevieve Westrope Six. She married William “Bill” Dobson on Feb. 26, 2010, in Virginia, and he survives.

She is also survived by two sons and one daughter, Bradford Miller of Clarence, MO, Michelle Myers of Chapin, and Alan (Holly) Miller of Blue Springs, MO; five grandchildren, Josh (Sabrina) Janssen of Princeton, Ashley (Jared) Briggman of Huntington, WV, Lauren Myers of Lincoln, NE, and Hunter Miller and Scarlett Miller, both of Blue Springs, MO; one sister, Sheila (David) Lohrenz of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Irene Little (surviving husband Harry of Missouri) and Neta Birdsell (surviving husband Alvin “Bud” of Jacksonville); and three brothers, Russell Six (surviving wife Anne of Groveland, MA), Robert Six and Ronald Six.

Mrs. Dobson was a 1957 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church in Springfield. An accomplished poet, she was recognized by and received awards from the Poetry Society of America. Sharon had also displayed her artwork at Strawn Art Gallery, was a diligent prayer warrior, and loved animals, especially cats.
