Sharon Jenne Hughson, 76 of Berkeley Township passed from this life Wednesday, November 27, 2019. Sharon was born December 27, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William and Wilma Jenne. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. After moving from Ohio to Florida, Sharon met Jerry at the University of Florida (go Gators!), and began an almost 58 year marriage.

They did not have much, but they had each other. After that, along came Kimberly and then J.R., to make their family complete. After a while they moved to Salisbury, North Carolina. As far as Sharon’s education, life got in the way for a few years. She enrolled at Catawba College and received her degree at the same time as her daughter graduated from high school. Next stop was the University of Cincinnati where she proceeded to earn her Master’s degree followed by her PhD in psychology while working and being a wife and mom.

Next up was a move to the beautiful mountains of Tennessee where she insisted on buying the perfect mountain home on a quiet lake for the kids and grandkids to visit and play. She also began her private practice with Jerry. No grass ever grew under her feet. They eventually relocated to New Jersey where they retired not so long ago. Sharon was an avid quilter and crafter and loved holidays, the beach, Downtown Abbey, Days of our Lives, Frank Sinatra and the Beach Boys. In the past few years she could be seen driving around town with the top down in her Fiat blasting her music, wind in her hair, singing “Surfin’ USA” and enjoying the attention that she got! Sharon loved her family and friends completely and fiercely and no one should cross any of us, or that would be that! She would literally give the shirt off her back to anyone in her tribe.

Her greatest joy for the past 25 years has been her grandchildren. From near and far, she was so proud of each unique “grand” and took on the name “The Gram.” Sharon’s life was taken too soon, but she did live life fully and completely. She never ever let ailments over the years get in the way of whatever she needed or wanted to do. She was a force to be reckoned with.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Sharon is predeceased by her parents; brother, Tom Jenne; and sister, Bonnie Gilbert. Sharon is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Jerry Hughson of Berkeley; daughter, Kim Daly-Boyer and her husband Nick Boyer of Toms River; son Jerry “J.R.” Hughson, Jr. and his wife Jennifer Garrett of Millis, Massachusetts, four grandchildren, Max, Dalton, Samantha, and Paige; brothers, Rick Jenne of Palm Beach Garden, Florida; Bob Jenne of Colorado; Brother in law Jim Gilbert, and several nieces and nephews.
