Sharon Denice Johnson was born to the late James Hampton and Tennie Lee Johnson on April 19, 1963, in Decatur, AL and departed this life on August 27, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital – Decatur General Campus.
She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and was an active member of Union Grove Baptist Church. She later joined New Genesis under Bishop Samuel Rice.
Sharon Denice Johnson dedicated a majority of her adult life to caring for others and being a foster mom to children of the family and friends that were in need of help and a place lifted her spirit.
She was also known as “Mutt” by close friends and family. Sharon had a beautiful, illuminating personality. She loved to laugh, listen to music, spend time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. The LOVE she had for people and coming together gave her so much JOY. She was truly a woman of GOD and was sought after by many in her church family, immediate family and friends for wisdom, advice and great sense of humor.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Roosevelt Johnson, Sr. and Elnora (Rice) Johnson; her great grandparents, Jessie Sr. and Essie Rice.
Sharon leaves her cherish her memory: her children, Cedric Johnson, Tiara Johnson, Teddy Johnson (Gemille) and Shara Cowley and Jakobe Thompson all of Decatur; siblings, Cecelia Hampton Rice of Huntsville, AL, Angela Crews of Lawrenceville, GA, James Johnson of Decatur and Cedric Johnson of Decatur one Auntee, Catherine Ann Mosley of Decatur; a true friend and sister for life, Erica Powell of Decatur; grandchildren, Marquis Johnson, Caely Johnson, Diamond Johnson, Ja-Rell Johnson, Jamari Johnson, Michaya Johnson, Kayin Patton, Tylik Morrow, Faith Metcalf, Crystal Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Na’Zarri Yarbrough; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
