Shannon Barnett

Shannon Barnett was born Shannon Ruby Smith to Dolores Jean Smith and Otis Gene Cue on Jan 28, 1970 in Brooklyn, NY.

From very early in life everyone knew that Shannon was a natural born leader. She exhibited these traits throughout life. Anything she tackled she took by the horns. She wasn’t afraid of much and a challenge was what she enjoyed. Shannon was a very brilliant person. She attended the Granville T. Woods Public School 335 in Brooklyn, NY from 1st to 6th grade where she graduated to I.S. 390 before finishing her education at Boys and Girls High School. Her smarts and wit allowed her to attain a career with ATT Telephone Company for approximately 10yrs. She mastered almost anything she set her mind to; friends and all. Shannon spent many year practicing and developed a niche in herbalist medicine.

Shannon was one who could bring a community together and this she did at all times. She was exceptionally funny and was often looked at as the life of the party. If Shannon was in attendance, you could rest assure you’d be having a ball. She loved to laugh, dance and sing. She was a lover of music; Reggae music was her love. This was her. She simply loved life and people as well. Shannon was considered to be a savior of many things. No matter how big or tall the task was, it was Shannon to the rescue. She had a large heart and rescuing anything or anyone was what brought her joy. She had a knack for bringing family and friends together in a way that only Shannon would’ve been able to have done and did. Your problem became hers once she knew of it. Whether it’d be a place to stay, a financial situation or an ear; Shannon would embed herself into the situation until there was an iron clad way of resolving whatever it was. She obtained satisfaction in seeing others happy.

Shannon gave so much of herself in all things she did. Shannon had a way of making people so mad at her but she also had a way of making it right. Today, we are here to say thank you for being the last of the Mohicans which most of us were able to witness in a lifetime. You will be greatly missed and that’s an understatement. The love many have for her is unimaginable and for that alone, saying goodbye hurts.
Shannon was survived by her husband Winston Barnett Sr., her eight children Raymel Smith, Shymel Smith, Dawnesha Smith, Janique Spence- Smith, Winston Barnett Jr., Isianay Barnett, Mikailah Barnett and Nikari Barnett. Three grandsons, Judah Edouard, Gavin Smith and Seven Smith who is soon to be born July 2016. Four sisters; Tanya Smith of Brooklyn, NY, Erica Cue, Tina Cue and Deidra Cue of Clarksville Tenn. Three brothers Carlton Cue of Brooklyn, NY and Gregory Cue of Syracuse, Utah and Johnathan Cue of Clarksville, Tenn as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will definitely miss her tremendously.

Although Shannon will be missed, she will always remain in our hearts and forever cherished in our memory!
