Shannon Michele (Briggs) Brown, 36, of Nampa, went home to her loving Savior on June 21, 2015, with her husband Drew at her side.
Shannon was born on April 21, 1979 in Driggs, Idaho to Richard and Michele Briggs. She grew up in Teton Valley enjoying the freedom of the outdoors. Shannon had a love for sports playing basketball and softball throughout her life. She graduated from Teton High School in 1997 and continued her studies at the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!) where she received degrees in History and Political Science. Shannon spent a year of college studying abroad in Ireland. Following college, Shannon was accepted into the Peace Corps. As she prepared to embark on her journey, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, a battle she ultimately won. Her intelligence was evident in her ability to debate politics and out-wit others with her sports trivia knowledge. She had a servants heart and a keen sense of humor – known to be quick with a Seinfeld quote. Her love of history and learning led to her true calling as a teacher at Kuna Middle School, where she had a significant impact on her students. Shannon met Drew in 2004 and they married in 2005.
Survivors include her husband Drew and their children, Gabriele and Joshua Brown of Nampa; her parents, Richard and Michele Briggs; and siblings Timothy Briggs, Eric (Jaime) Briggs, Alexander (Heidi) Briggs, Rachel (Enrique) Gutierrz, Matthew (Angelina) Briggs, Jessica (Jeremy) Morgan; brother-in-law Jason (Alexandra) Brown; sister-in-law Christina Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Drs Gadi and Pulver, as well as the staff at St Alphonsus Cancer Care Center for their support and dedication to Shannon’s care.
