Shanna Elaine Johanning, 58, of Columbia formerly of Moberly, passed away on August 21, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Shanna was born to Virgil and Bonnie (Finley) Thurston on June 13, 1963 in Moberly, MO. She attended Moberly High School graduating in 1981. She then attended William Jewell College in Liberty, MO were she earned her Bachelor degree in Nursing. Shanna continued her education later in life obtaining her Master’s in Administration from William Woods University. Shanna worked in several different areas of healthcare throughout her career as a nurse and administrator. The love she had for her patients was unimaginable.
Shanna spent every minute she could at the Lake. She would always say, “The Lake is my happy place!” David and her traveled as often as they could. As one of her hobbies Shanna spent her days sewing with her “sewing crew” enhancing her skills.
Shanna was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and a younger sister.
Shanna leaves behind her husband, David Johanning of Columbia, MO, her daughters, Whitley Joan Melton and her husband David of Kansas City, MO and Sarah McKenzie Davis and her husband Trevor of Cairo, MO and David’s sons; Brian (Courtney) of Kansas City, MO, Allen of Columbia, MO and Eric Johanning (Marshall), grandchildren, Atticus Melton, Afton Davis, Katlyn, Jemma, and Lydia Johanning, other relatives and friends.
