Sebastian “Mickey” Carta, 89, of Cromwell, beloved husband of Lucienne (VanElven) Carta, passed away on Saturday, July 10th at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Anna (Topazio) Carta and had lived in Cromwell for 20 years. Mickey served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he met his wife while in Belgium and they shared 64 years of marriage. He was employed at New England Aircraft in Farmington for over 20 years and then became a school bus driver, as he had a great love of driving, in Cromwell for 17 years. Mickey was an avid New York Yankee fan, which he handed down that tradition to his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gerard A. Carta of Middlefield, Todd M. Carta of Boston, MA; two daughters, Anna Beliveau and her husband Roger of Cromwell, Jean L. Doucette and her husband Gary of Cromwell; one sister Isabelle of Maine; six grandchildren, David Sorvillo, Marie Sawrun, Marc Beliveau and his wife Maryann, Jill Ferrarese and her husband Rino, Tricia Wetmore and her husband Ron, Vanessa Carta; thirteen great grandchildren, Samantha and Trey Sorvillo, Sierra and Taylor Sawrun, Jeffrey and Faith Beliveau, Rino, Chloe, Noelle Ferrarese, Kylee, Justin, Sarah, and Matthew Wetmore; and several nieces and nephews.
