Sean Eric Gerdes was born September 13, 1973, son of Stan and Sonja (Oldenburger) Gerdes.
Sean grew up in the Waterloo area, graduated from West High School, and Hawkeye Community College.
Sean was an artistic soul, who was extremely gifted. He loved to paint, draw, and played many instruments. He participated in marching band and jazz band. He was an avid hunter and fisher. Sean was also creative in the kitchen, and an accomplished chef.
Those left to cherish his memory are his fiancée Lori Proctor, and her children: Jeff, Sarah, and Tim; his daughter Brandee, his son Issac, his step-children: Logan and Katie; his father Stanley (Kathleen) Gerdes of Naples, Florida; his brother: Matthew (Elke) Gerdes of Cedar Falls and their children: Tyler, Conner, and Anna; his sister: Stephanie (Jon) Hietbrink of Pella and their children: Elijah and Abigail, and his step siblings: Amanda (Aaron) Middendorf, Nate Hartsell, and John Bossert. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
Sean was preceded in death by his mother Sonja Gerdes, and his grandparents: Bill and Ann Oldenburger, and Rionold and Annetta Gerdes.
