Scott Thomas Smedley, 50, of Spring Valley, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Smedley was born March 17, 1961 in Spokane, WA to Ronald and Marianne (Duske) Smedley. Scott was employed in the Darien School District for many years as a maintenance supervisor and was a well-loved school bus driver. In later years he was self-employed in renovating homes. Scott was an accomplished musician; self taught on the drums and guitar. He played in various bands in the Downers Grove area. Scott was an avid fan of Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and Cubs.
Survivors include his two children, Ashley Gibbs and Austin Smedley of Renton, WA; one granddaughter, Avah Remington of Renton, WA; his mother, Marianne Smedley of Spring Valley; one sister, Rhonda (Jason) Newman of Spring Valley; three brothers, Barry Smedley of San Diego, CA, Dean Smedley of Spring Valley and Kyle (Jennifer) Smedley of Toluca and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Smedley and one brother, Todd Smedley.
