Scott Thomas Royal was born in Newnan to Thomas Butler Royal, Jr. and Gail Nicholson Royal on March 30, 1965. He is a graduate of Newnan High School and West Georgia College.
Scott was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in 1990 and was blessed with successful surgeries and treatments that contributed to his 26-year survival. While battling cancer he was able to obtain a BA degree and a master’s degree in Psychology from West Georgia College.
Perhaps the secret to his successful fight was his high energy, witty disposition, close relationships with a loving family, and many wonderful friends. His prescription for his battle included laughter, love, and refusal to quit living for the moment. Scott was kind, generous, compassionate, funny, and sarcastic yet warm.
The beat of Scott’s drum energized his band of brothers for many years. Scott passed from this world on May 31, 2016, as a close trio played softly at his bedside.
He was preceded in death by his father. Scott is survived by his mother, his sister Kelly Touchstone (Tom), his nephew and niece Thomas and Sophie Touchstone, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
