Scott Wendel, 53, formerly of Milford and beloved husband of 32 years to his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Shelley Wendel, passed away suddenly on April 7, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia while on a business trip. Born in Milford, on August 5, 1961, Scott was the son of Margaret and Calvin Wendel of Milford CT. Scott was Vice President of Material Damage at National General, Winston-Salem, NC. He enjoyed many hobbies such as golfing, fishing, duck hunting, skeet shooting and duck carving (for which he won many awards). He was an avid Yankee and Giants fan. The family resided in Milford, CT and Woodstock, CT, before moving to Winston-Salem, NC in 2011. Scott was very involved with coaching during his children’s early years in Milford Pop Warner, Little League and travel baseball. He continued coaching football after moving to Woodstock, CT, where he was an assistant coach with the Woodstock Academy Centaurs. After moving to NC, Scott found a home with the Raiders as an assistant coach at Ronald W. Reagan High School in Pfafftown, NC. He was very passionate about football and loved coaching the kids. Scott will be remembered as a having a big heart and a kind soul. He was a genuinely nice guy and a loving family man who will be missed by many.
In addition to his wife Shelley, he is survived by his cherished sons Eric and Matthew Wendel.
