FALMOUTH — Scott Carney, 48, of Falmouth, a larger-than-life personality who would do anything for his friends and family, died Saturday at home. Scott was blessed with an incredible sense of humor. A selfless soul, Scott thought nothing of moving a friend across the country or offering up his last twenty dollars. To him, friends easily became family, and he cherished each and every relationship. A former bartender and bouncer at the Bell and Hand in Boston, Scott also worked as a security doorman at the Varsity Club in Quincy. Born in St. Margaret’s Hospital in Boston on June 15, 1972, Scott was the son of the late Margaret Carney. He lived in Braintree and Boston for most of his life before moving to Falmouth in the last year. He attended Braintree High School and Apponequet Regional High School in Lakeville. Proud of his Irish heritage, Scott hosted a St. Patrick’s Day party every year on parade day in South Boston. A daredevil who loved adventure, Scott shattered both feet in 1997 while jumping off the quarries in Quincy. Doctors believed he would never walk again; however, he battled through numerous surgeries as well as months of physical therapy and proved them wrong. While recuperating, he loved to race friends down his grandmother’s dead end street in his wheelchair. Scott had an eclectic taste in music and loved listening to everything from Pink Floyd to New Kids on the Block. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing with his family and friends. He loved the ocean so much that his niece and nephew called him “Uncle Beach.”Scott enjoyed nature, especially camping at Curlew Pond in Plymouth and spending time in the mountains. When he was younger, he would take his sister fishing in the Monatiquot River in Braintree. He will be forever missed by his sister, Maggie Cate Cunha and her husband Jay of Carver; his nephew and niece, Chance and Olivia Cunha; and many cousins, including Michael Carney, Christin Hastings, Mellisa Carney, and Kimberly Carney. He was the godfather of Shaun Carney and Samantha Rumsey. He was adored by all his nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, especially Michael and Dorene Carney.
