Savvas Speros Demakes, 86, fell into eternal sleep on Friday, June 11th after a brief illness with bladder cancer.  Savvas was born and raised in Loganiko, Greece to Spero and Maria Demakes.  In the mid-1960’s he came to Gloucester MA and established himself as a chef for the Tavern.  In 1969 he returned to Greece to marry his love Dimitra and spent 52 years together.  Both Savvas and Diane moved to the US and started their new life.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children Maria Arnold and her husband Chris, Peter Demakes and his wife Kathryn and Nektarios Demakes. His grandchildren George, Jenn, Mark, Sarah, Christopher, Nasha, Mariella, Savvas and Cameron and his great-grandchildren Niko and Marina. Savvas leaves behind his sister Vasiliki Fatouros and husband Christos whom he cherished and had a very special bond with.
Savvas’s other siblings that predeceased him are Louis, George, James, Pantelion, Vasio and Christina.
Savvas was a wonderful man that loved everybody.  He worked many years as a chef and made many friends.  He was a generous man that loved giving especially to his grandchildren.
There are so many great stories that can be told about him but there is one in particular that stands out.  It shows how this man knew his politics. With his broken English, he wanted to discuss the 2016 Elections.  He preceded to ask who we felt would win the election Hairy Clinta or To Trump…  this is a man we will miss.
