Saundra Leah Hazel “Sandy” Hedrick, 75, of East Palatka, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was a native of Bloomington, IN, and had lived in Putnam County since 1977 coming from St. Augustine. Sandy was a graduate of Bloomington High School and had worked at Otis Elevator in Indiana. She later worked for Little Champ in St. Augustine, Hunts Farm of Orange Mills in East Palatka, and had also worked for the Putnam County School District. She loved her family and friends, fishing, shrimping, puzzle books, watching old tv shows, and listening to music. Sandy never met a stranger and never had in-laws.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Harvey Hazel and Imogene Irene Summers Hazel, ex-husband, Allen George Morton Hedrick, mother-in-law, Ruth Anna Hedrick Morton, father-in-law, George Randolph Hedrick, Sr., sister-in-law, Sarah Belle Brantley (William) and nephew, James Leroy Jackson (Little Jimmy).
She is survived by her daughters, Leah Georgena Hedrick Russell (Walter Allen “Walt”) and Joy Saundra Hedrick-Chaney (Michael “Mike”) all of Palatka, brothers, William Dioan “Butch” Hazel (Sharon), and Larry Joseph “L.J.” Hazel (Carol), sister, Ethel Irene Hazel Jackson Parks (Larry), grandchildren, Walter Austin Russell (Miranda), Kimberly Leah Russell, Brandon Michael Russell (Brooke), Mathew Allen Russell, Dioan Michael Chaney, great-grandchildren, Kinsley M. Russell, Bentley O. Russell, Alannah F. Russell, Brenton and Micah, nieces and nephews, Tammi Souders, Nancy White, David Luke (Carol) Scotty Hedrick, Joseph “Cuddles” Hazel, as well as numerous extended family members and friends that she loved.
Sandy will be greatly missed and was loved by all who knew her.
