Satya Paul Devan, 84, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, at home.
Satya was born April 1, 1937, in Lahora, India to Dr. Amrit and Sheelan (Chawla) Devan. He was raised and educated in India where he worked as a lab instructor in the Mechanical and Metallurgical Department. Satya immigrated to the United States in 1977 and worked as a welder for Des Moines Pittsburgh Steel for 21 years, retiring in 1998. In his retirement, he worked part-time at Lemar Industries. He enjoyed entertaining and cooking for family and friends, home projects, and tax season.
Satya is survived by his daughter, Rittu (Wendall) Boehlje of Wyalusing, WI; two grandchildren, Sophia (Max) Lehmann of Iowa Falls, IA, and Nathanial Boehlje of Ames, IA; great-grandson, Judah Lehmann; Rittu’s mother, Madhu Chawla of Des Moines, and two brothers, Rajinder Devan of Des Moines, IA and Surinder Paul Devan of PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Dr. Jas Paul Devan, Chander Paul Devan, Billy Devan, and his sister, Usha Chawla.
