Sarah Marie Grimes Glaspell, 78, of Rt. 5, Salem, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010 at the United Hospital Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Glaspell was a personal caretaker and worked at Mountain State Linen. She was born in Clarksburg on August 24, 1931 a daughter of the late Cleophus and Mary Frush Grimes. Twice married, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman E. Geipe, and also her second husband, Gale Glaspell. Surviving are three sons, Norman “Leon” Geipe and his wife Marcia, Salem, James Michael Geipe, who was her primary caregiver, Salem, and Gale Claude Glaspell, II and his companion Ruth Ables, Salem; five grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Martha Griffith, Clarksburg; two brothers, Pat Grimes and his wife Myra, Boothsville, and Gary Grimes and his wife Glenna, Clarksburg; one sister-in-law, Mary Grimes, Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and George Grimes; and her step-mother, Nellie Grimes. Mrs. Glaspell was Christian by faith and a former Sunday School Teacher. She liked to bowl and crochet. She also enjoyed knitting afghans and was a wonderful cook. Sarah was a great friend to everyone and will be sadly missed by her family.
