Ms. Sarah Lou Moffitt Jackson, age 100, of Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, NC.

Ms. Sarah Lou Moffitt Jackson, age 100, transitioned into eternal rest On Monday, April 3, 2023 at Central Carolina Hospital. She was born in Lee County, North Carolina on October 18, 1922.

Sarah Lou Moffitt Jackson was born to Selden and Georgia Moffitt. She attended Lee County Schools. She later moved to New Jersey and New York where she met the love of her life, Herbert Jackson. After decades up north, she returned to Sanford where she was known throughout Lee County as “the insurance lady.” As an agent for Charlotte Liberty Mutual Insurance, she worked hard to ensure her clients were covered when crises arose. She received numerous awards from the company for her outstanding sales, including trips to the Bahamas and Mexico.

She joined First Calvary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her death. She served as a trustee for many years, a member of the kitchen committee where she ruled the kitchen, and as President of the Lillie Akin Senior Missionary Circle. She received the Missionary President of the Year Award in 2000 from the Woman’s Missionary Union as well as many other awards and commendations. She was well-known for the Annual Rainbow Tea where she was a super fundraiser.  She represented the orange color of the rainbow which is a warm vibrant color that makes people feel friendly and comfortable, which bespoke to Ms. Jackson’s character and personality. She was known for her sense of humor and unique sayings. No matter what happened, she always replied, “It is what it is!”

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brothers, and husband. She leaves to mourn, five generations, her daughter Roslyn of Sanford, NC, her grandson Richard, of Chicago, IL, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church family, and friends.
