Sarah L. Carpenter was born on May 16, 1936 to the late Elijah and Currie Moore in Pender County, NC and departed this life on July 8, 2016. She was one of nine children and was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Carpenter, their son Bobby Carpenter Jr, and three brothers: Floyd Moore, Henry Moore and Richard (Jill) Moore and two sisters: Odessa Lucas and Henrietta Moore- Beckwith. Sarah leaves behind six children: Gwendolyn Horton, Barbara (John McKoy), Brenda Carpenter, Shelia Carpenter and Robert Carpenter, of Raleigh NC and Cathy (William Frederick) of Cary NC. Three sisters: Rosa Williams, Frieda Perry and Ruby Jones, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, family member and friend. She worked as a cafeteria manager at James E. Shephard High School for 20 years. After of which, she worked at Raleigh Community Hospital for 7 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant until her husband took ill, and she retired and devoted herself to taking care of him until he departed this life on January 13, 2007. She was known for her infectious smile, heartfelt hugs and great food.
